Things to do:
Christchurch is the gateway to the South Island and an hour's drive gives you access to the rich farmland of the plains, the extinct volcanoes that form the Lyttleton and Akaroa Harbours, low alpine and high alpine with ski fields, hunting and tramping.
The suburb of Cashmere sits on the lower slopes of the Port Hills overlooking Christchurch. The Port Hills offer walks, cycle riding, small villages such as Governors Bay and Diamond Harbour, with the jewel of the Peninsula, Akaroa about an hour and a half away on good roads that wind up and over the hills.
If you are interested in hunting or exploring by vehicle, foot or helicopter, Gerry can arrange this. And he may even be persuaded to give up some of his favourite fishing haunts.
